The Italian intervention
In the framework of the EU Mechanism, our country offers a USAR Medium module (Urban Search And Rescue) for search and rescue activities among the rubble in urban areas. The module, provided by the National Fire Department, is supplemented by medical personnel from the Regional Health Services and operates from the 7 February in the Antioch area.
On 11 February, a DVI team (Disaster Victim Identification) of 5 experts including Carabinieri, State Police, and the MAECI Crisis Unit arrived in Turkey to identify victims, presumably missing compatriots.
The turnover of personnel working in the territories affected by the emergency and the transport of materials is ensured by the P180, C130 and KC-767 aircraft of the Air Force and the ATR-72 of the Guardia di Finanza.
